Sideboard Metal Hutch

Step three to a beautiful home is the furnishings.  This picture shows a handsome dining room set with a metal hutch and buffet.  Furniture that is functional and good looking should be our main objective when buying furniture.  This room displays both.  Also, this one dining room space demonstrates the eight steps you are reading about.  Imagine this room with one or two elements missing.  It would not be near as lovely and would feel incomplete. You might not realize what’s wrong, but hopefully with your new knowledge you will begin to recognize what is needed and can transfer that information to your home.  Follow me through the eight steps of this dining room.

Notice the wonderful hardwood floors and area rug, step # 1 Flooring. Next the walls have a warm beige faux paint technique applied for a rich backdrop to the room, step # 2 Walls/Trim/Molding. The furniture is beautiful, functional and a necessary element to any room, step #3 Furniture. Next the windows have been treated with wooden shutters painted to match the architectural trim in the room, step #4 Window Treatment/Bedding/Accent Pillows- whichever is applicable. Natural light from the windows is pouring in, but I’m sure in the actual room setting there would be a lovely chandelier or spot lighting from above, step #5 Lighting. A handsome pair of pictures is hung vertically on an empty wall. This adds additional personality, color and fills the void of a blank wall, step #6 Artwork. Accessories fill the hutch with added functional and decorative items, which provides additional color, charm and charisma to the room, step # 7 Accessories. Finally, last but not least is the addition of plants and florals to the room. Notice the beautiful bouquet of flowers on the table, topiary on the hutch and the palm tree in the corner. All add a crowning touch to the décor of this dining room, step #8 Greenery/florals.
