Answer: I have actually removed the cabinet doors and turned them over so that you can start fresh. Then if you are handy with woodworking you can create a design on the edge. I then painted them and bought new handles and hinges. It was an inexpensive project. I took dark doors and painted them white..don't forget the primer!!

Answer: Like most painting jobs, it's about proper prep work. Sanding first, then primer, then several coats of paint. A light sanding betweem coats will give you a nice and more durable finish. Then change the hardware and cabinets will look like new. Ask a local paint store for the best primer and paint for the type of wood your cabinets are. If you're a handy person and depending on the style of your doors, you can sometimes change a few doors to glass fronts.
