Title of Question:
Color Coordiation |
|
Question: My husband and I have purchased a new home and in the family room it had been recently recarpeted with a nice grade of carpet in the shade of burgandy. We are planning to slip cover some furniture to put in that room but my husband insists on burgandy slipcovers. I suggested coordinating the colors like in a Khaki, or cream or maybe even green. What do you think? |

| Answer:
I think you have a good idea by going with a color that coordinates with the burgandy, yet lets key pieces in the room stad out and be dimentional. |

| Answer:
I agree with you. Too much burgandy will make the room look too dark and what I call heavy. I also like the colors you suggested. I would tend to use some darker blues and and maybe yellows too. Sometimes I tend to get a little too bold. I am working one that myself. Good luck Kelly! I vote for your idea. I just thought though, you may want to use a slipcover that will not show dirt too easily especially if there will be a lot of children using it, I think I would go for a green or blue in that case. I have seen some beautiful burgandy and blue things put together. Good luck! |

| Answer:
Definitely a neutral be it a taupe or a light gray or consider a patterned fabric be it in a floral or stripes with a taupe or light gray background. Then add in taupe or light gray throw pillows. If you do consider gray you could go with a couple darker pillows for contrast. In turn use silver or pewter pieces in the room. Artwork finish will depend on the wall color. If you go with something light then consider pewter frames and burgundy or taupe matting. This is a striking color combination that is often over looked. |
