Name: Evelyn Title of Question: Daycare & Home
Question: I need to separate my home daycare from my home living space. I have papers for the business, and our personal information together, and it's to cluttered and I feel unprofessional and organized. I have a large couch 96" wide and love 72" wide and they take up a lot of space. I need ideas on how to utilize all my space and how to incorporate storage and what type of storage? Help

Answer: An armoire will hide all of your business materials and computer. This will also allow for extra storage for other items. Another option would be a sofa table with a drawer placed behind either your sofa or loveseat. This can be a make shift desk. Storage cubes can be purchased rather inexpensively and can be placed under the table when not in use and pulled into the room when needed. This is a great space for storing some of the larger toys.

Answer: In my daycare room I take frames from dollar stores paint them each a primary color put snap shots of the children and place them in clusters on the wall. The children love seeing themselves and their friends. I also made a large felt banner with the name of my daycare, each month/holiday i decorate the banner with a felt figure of some sort with their names on each great for learning name recognition. Example gingergread boys and girls at xmas- snowman through winter a giant caterpillar in the spring and so on. Also your local video stores sometimes will be getting rid of childrens posters. Good Luck !

Answer: I have a separate room for my daycare however I know nice baskets can help organize toys you could always take digital pictures of what to put in each basket, laminate them and put on outside of basket for children to help also a great way to teach sorting.A filing cabinet works well for daycare papers as well as some art supplies for easy access. If you have a closet in the room I used sweater shelves from a home depot for the childrens cubbies it also is a great place to store some toys that you only want to bring out on special occassions.Shelves always can help with baskets on the shelves , you could always break this down on the weekend and store the baskets somewhere else after daycare closes.

Answer: Use two filing boxes. One for home one for business. How to set your furniture up will take more info. whats your room size and what would you like to have in that room?

Answer: I would get two file cabinets side by side, one for your daycare and one for personal. If your personal files are small, maybe you could use one and share. usually files for a daycare aren't too much anyways. I would put the couches in a "L" shape, to give you you more room. Then you could put a lamp or coffee table on the inside. Use bookcases with buckets for storage. Oranized everything on the bookcase by books, toys, age.
