Question: I need to decorate my fireplace mantle and I have no idea where to start. I have a mantle clock and woul dlike to keep it there. I have done the silver candle sticks and I am tired of them. Now what?

Answer: Collections work well. Like bird houses, tea caddies, silver trinket boxes, french olive jars, McCoy pottery in different shapes but same color to contrast with wall color. But a few home magazines and see what othere are using. I have a collection of blue and white transferware on my high mantel. I have five fairly large pieces, I have art above. The wall color is tree moss and the blue and white pieces on top of the off white mantel against the green background is very striking. Many of these collection type pieces can be bought inexpensively on ebay
