I would suggest you get some decorating magazines and look for rooms that appeal to you. Then look for a common theme in those rooms. Is it the same colors you are drawn to or is the same style? Like casual or formal? Do you like rooms that mix casual and formal. Save the pages you like in a folder and take them with you when you shop for items. Show them to the salespeople. Bring the measurements of your room and if you can draw the room on a piece of paper showing the doors and windows and put that in your folder for when you shop.
