Answer: Hi, Pat. I watch a lot of decorating shows on HGTV. Candice Olsen of "Divine Design" has said many times that she hangs the chandelier over a dining table 60 inches from the floor. Most dining room tables are approximately 29-30 tall, so the chandelier would hang approximately 30 inches from the table top. I have read in decorating books, however, that you can hang it anywhere from 30-36 inches from the table top. The most important thing to consider is that you don't want to be knocking your head on it when sitting down or getting up from the table, nor do you want it to be obstructing guests view of each other when seated. I just got a gorgeous chandelier for my dining room, and we split the difference and hung it at 33 inches from the table top. Visually, this is what looked "right" to us. Hope this helps!
