Question: Last year I painted my bathroom and someone told me that I could paint right over the old tile as long as I used that melmine paint. Now it is peeling off in places and i need to either repaint it or tear off the tile. Help?

Answer: Once the paint has started to peel it needs to be scraped. I use a good primer such as KILZ and regular outside house paint when painting tiles kitchen or bath with the exception of tiles as a backsplash. Another option would be to create the look of stucco over the tiles. Prime the walls and apply crumpled white tissue paper over the primer while wet. Creating the amount of texture desired by removing some of the crumpling. After the tissue has dried apply your favorite color paint over the top. You could also add a glaze or stain over that to create the look of time worn plaster walls as seen in French villas.

Answer: There are some great tile paints on the market now,they are specifically for tiles, and if you follow the instructions correctly it won't peel. Using normal house paint is not recomended as it will eventually peel.

Answer: I have used house paint on backspalshes in SEVERAL of my clients homes. One was 5 years ago and the paint hasnt peeled as of yet.

Answer: I have seen the answer to your question on various websites I do know you have to usand the tile first, prime then paint, and then use several coat of polyurethene. I would do a search before I got started. there is a lot of moisture in bathrooms
