Home : Q&A : General Decorating Forum : Right drapery lining fabric
| Name:
Ann
Title of Question:
Right drapery lining fabric |
|
Question: I am selecting lining fabric for a medium weight cotton print drapery fabric (Braemore, Granville Jewel.)
One lining fabric vendor advises that all the linings they sell (Bancreas, Suede, Blackout) offer protection against sunfading.
Another vendor advises that ONLY blackout lining fabric can protect drapery fabric from sun fading.
Which is correct? Or is it simply a matter of degree? (FWIW, the windows get direct, unfiltered morning sunlight.)
Thanks.

| Answer:
With natural fabrics I would suggest a natural lining (100% cotton). I sell lining, and can tell you that some prints that were done in 1989, are still looking great (except for a little dust) with a cotton lining that we carry. Blackout would also work, but I would recommend a softblackout with some or 100% cotton content. www.bournemills.com, is the only company I know that carries a 100% cotton blackout, try them. What ever you do, spend a few extra dollars to ensure you get a high quality lining, it will make a big difference in the longevity of your window treatment. |

| Answer:
RJ IS RIGHT. STICK WITH A 100% COTTON, OR A BLACKOUT WILL WORK FINE. |
