Home : Q&A : Painting : What color should I paint my kitchen?

Title of Question:
What color should I paint my kitchen? |
|
Question: Hi!
I need some expert advice!! We moved into our new house about 8 months ago. It's only three years old, and most all of the rooms were already painted to suit my taste and furniture. The kitchen however has grape wallpaper. It's not THAT bad, but it is my first project. My question is I have no clue what color to paint my kitchen. It is between my bedroom and my living room. My house is very open and you can see every room from every aspect. My bedroom is cranberry red ( at night it looks more red, in the day it has a slight burgundy tint). My living room is a very neutral light beige, almost porcelin in color. My kitchen has cream and beige tile. The cabinets are off white. My living room colors are ivory, beige, _mocha with touches of chocolate and gold. There are small touches of the red from my bedroom also! I have accented with a tad of animal print to tie in all of the solids. I am stumped on what to paint my kitchen to tie every thing together.
I like traditional and modern mixed together - warm and rich colors.
I hope this makes sense. Thanks for your help!!

Have you considered "Cocoa"? From what you've described, it might work. |

| Answer:
I would use a terracotta color, with more of a burnt orange in it. Then I would use accents in every room of that color to tie the rooms together. |

I have just painted my hallways Interactive Cream, and I can't believe how warm it makes my home. I'm guessing, though, from the dates listed, that you've already painted. Good luck! |

| Answer:
Take a look at Benjamin Moore color "Chocolate Mousse" that might work. My daughter used it in her kitchen.
The benjamin moore web site lets you "virtual paint" a room online. Choose a photo that looks as similiar to your kitchen and then choose a color from their colors. Great way to "test drive" different colors and shades without buying lots of quarts to try at home. Good Luck. |
