Question: I have french garden doors and I would like to make shade that look like romans but are fixed. How should I calculate the length to make it look in proportion?. The inset for the doors are 24 by 66. |

I would aim for approx 1/4 to 1/3 of the overall length which ever your eye tells you looks right.
Another possibility is too make the shade the full length and then roll the shade up and use a button tab or a tie to hold it up. That would give you the option to lower the shade if you ever needed to or just leave it tied or buttoned up. We rented a vacation home and the bedroom had a flat shade that she rolled up a tab on the back at the right height she wanted had a button hole that attached to the button on the front at the right level. You would want two buttons/tabs for each side. The HGTV web site might have some pictures of window treatments to help. Good Luck |
