Another possibility is too make the shade the full length and then roll the shade up and use a button tab or a tie to hold it up. That would give you the option to lower the shade if you ever needed to or just leave it tied or buttoned up. We rented a vacation home and the bedroom had a flat shade that she rolled up a tab on the back at the right height she wanted had a button hole that attached to the button on the front at the right level. You would want two buttons/tabs for each side. The HGTV web site might have some pictures of window treatments to help. Good Luck
