Question: I have a dark green sectional sofa and love seat, very dark brown hardwood floors, pine tv stand, coffee table..ect I need to know what colour to paint and not clash with the sofa colour??? |

You have a fairly dark color palette. I would suggest a medium tone neutral for contrast. What colors are in your fabrics? Maybe you could color match a muted or neutral from there. |

I don't have any other fabrics or colours yet, not even window coverings. I was waiting to paint first. sorry you saud Neutral warm tones but I don't know what that means.... |

I agree with decor42. - Just a thought, but this site's Color Scheme Guides are very useful. Another idea is to collect paint color strips from the hardware store, tape a bunch of a color you like together (6-8 works for me), and stick the color block on the wall at different places in the room during the day for a couple of days to see how light affects it at different times of the day (a VERY big deal). Some paint mfgs also let you buy small quantities of paint to cover a few feet before you commit to a color. [If you have the time, it also helps to bone up on basic color design (Google: color design). Before I knew what a "cool" color was, I thought it meant day-glo under black light!] |

A beige, tan or taupe would tie all of the elements together in this room. You can add color with an area rug, throw pillows and your window treatments. |
