Answer: I suggest to my clients to make a wish board. This consists of pictures that they like from decorating magazines. Color swatches and fabric swatches-I encourage them to pick a varietyof both as patterns can be mixed succesfully by using ones with varying scale and the same background color. Add to the board pictures of furniture that you are drawn to. Pick an inspiration piece. This can be a piece of furniture that you plan on purchasing or one that you already own. This could determine your style or theme. A favorite fabric could be the inspiration piece. Yes, color does create mood. There are other things to consider when selecting a paint color. Will it make the room appear smaller, how is the natural lighting, is this a color that you really love or are you influenced with it because it seems to be popular? Begin with your walls then add your hardcase pieces (couches, chairs, tables etc). Add the softcase goods (rugs, curtains, pillows etc). Then the accessories. Be sure to use atleast 2 colors in the room-your primary color an accent color and a common color in the accessories. There are many wonderful decorating sites that have oodles of information. Another option would be to visit model homes or homes that are on the market-just to get inspired. Dont feel that you have to decorate by the book when you have chosen a plan, theme or style that you enjoy. As individuals we are each unique in our own special ways and I feel that adding your own unique piece to the room is your signature. Above all be creative and enjoy.

Answer: So many factors can become basic to decorating, such as mood, finacial capacity, social status, other percularity. All these help choose the right color. But what ever the shade of colors, they must be soothing to the beholder. I'm a person of light colors; white, lilac, lemon green, orange, ocean blue, but am presently living in a house predominated by shades of brown. Am waiting to turn things around to match my mood. i dont know about the writen laws on colors but i feel bold with green, feel romantic with blue, feel happy and active in red, calm in beigh or brown. lilac and lemon green make me feel sexy and childish respectively.
