Name: Carla Mead Title of Question: painting/decorating 2 room basement
Question: Im trying to get ideas to do one room into a bird house design and the right colors to paint this dark black ceiling, baseboard and 2 walls are different colors of like purple redish organge. Then the other room I want to do Coca Cola it is also painted black, redish organge, green, purple. Want to leave the black and thinking of painting the rest a red color and decorate Coca Cola. Just getting ideas but my main concern is the bird house room. it has a furnace down there so there is pipes every where. water pipes and furnace pipes. If i could paint some kind of design of bird house, tree leaves or something on the pipes?? Draw designs on walls?

Answer: Decorating in general is a subjective art and what pleases one person's eye doesn't work for someone else, but I know NO guidelines of good decorating or taste that would incorporate so many strong colors in such large doses all in one space. It would be very hard to relax and not be dizzy in a space like you describe. But it's your house and you're the one that needs to be happy with it.

Answer: I have to agree that the color combination is a bit much. If you were to tone it down this would allow your desired themes to better stand out. Better suggestions could then be given to acheive this look..
