| Answer:
I would replace the carpet ASAP and use yellowy/gold on the walls. I would add pillows that have the yellowy gold, green and burgundy in it. As an alternate, I would replace the carpet and use a sage green on the walls, with pillows accents in the same three colors of yellowy gold, green and burgundy.
I think it's going to be hard to use the dark forest green carpet with the large element of the sofa and chair without it looking like a christmas room. shades of red and green can be used together but it's tricky to get the right combo and you have a heavy concentration of both those colors.
My favorite yellow wall color to use with those colors is Oriental Silk by Benjamin Moore, it is no longer on the color charts, but a BM paint store can still make the color for you. You can buy a sample quart first, but remember a sample in a guart formula comes out slightly different from the gallon formula.
I just re-decorated my family room, but previously I had a dark green sofa the walls were the above mentioned color and the drapes were a plaid of rapsberry, green and yellow/gold. The carpet was a neutral wool sisal color and a large chair was a floral pattern with yellow background and flowers of green and raspberry. |
