Our beat up old table was now refurbished and awaiting the crowning touches. The stencil pattern Cheryl chose had three parts, first layer, being the leaves, second the fruit and flowers, third the stems, leaf veining and flower stamens. The first section we stenciled was the top of the table, and then worked parts of the stencil around the legs and end of table for a completed look. We used an oil stick stencil paint, which blends and provides shading on the leaves, flower petals etc. without even trying. You feel like a real artist. The only problem we had was when we laid the second and third stencil over the previous painted areas, it caused some lifting and smearing of the paint, so we had to be very careful to prevent this from happening.

Once the stenciling was done and dry, we applied a thin coat of latex walnut stain, and wiped off the excess with a dry rag. The goal was to add an aged patina, and bring out the carved details of the table.
