Once we had most all of the background foliage and flowers glued in, we decided to make the bow and attach the bird and nest. You can buy ready-made bows or make them yourself. Since our ribbon was so colorful and patterned we decided to use a simple bow style. Using Jennifer’s fingers as an anchor, I wrapped the ribbon around and criss crossed at the center, tying a knot underneath and leaving long trailers.

We hot glued the bow to the wreath in the proper place. (Wire will work too)

The bird and nest of eggs were glued on next.

Now we used the remaining flowers and leaves to fill in void spots and give it the finishing touches.

I clipped the end of the ribbon streamers with an inverted “V” to finish the ends and we were done!

Jennifer was thrilled with her new wreath and wants to make a Christmas one soon! I got the sweetest note from her two days later. As you can imagine this holiday memory will always be special to us!

You can do it too! I hope you will try; it really is so simple and inexpensive to have a festive holiday wreath for your front door. It doesn’t have to be perfect, and if you don’t like where you placed something, pull it out and start over. Your creativity will surprise you when you complete this simple project! Send me pictures of the wreaths you make for your home. I’d love to see what you did!!

Happy Decorating,
