Child's Play

Here are five tips to help you decorate your children’s rooms:

  1. Base the decorating choices for your child’s room on his real interest. Even toddlers have definite likes and dislikes.
  2. Choose a theme that can grow with a child. Avoid trendy cartoon or move characters that may soon be outdated.
  3. Do use fairly tailored backgrounds so neither you nor your child will quickly tire of the room. Choose durable fabrics, such as a colorful cotton prints, plaids, stripes or denim.
  4. Avoid clutter; keep accessories other than toys or sports equipment to a minimum. Don’t put anything in the room you don’t want your child to play with.
  5. If storage is at a minimum, baskets make great organizers for books and smaller toys. Child size seating, such as a window seat, is a real plus, too.
