Tricks and Tips For Swags and Jabots

Whether you are making them yourself, buying ready- made or are having a workroom make them, these tips will help you know what to do.

SWAGS

  1. Plan for an odd number of swags, if at all possible.
  2. Swags should be no more than 40 inches wide.
  3. The drop (scallops) can range from 12inches to 20 inches.
  4. Center the same fabric design for each swag.
  5. When making several swags, allow enough width for overlapping.

JABOTS

  1. The inside drop (inside lower corner) should be equal to or slightly longer than the bottom edge of the swag.
  2. The outside drop (inside lower corner) usually ends about one-third down the window, at the sill or at the floor.
  3. After pleating, the width should range from 9-15 inches across, not including the return (the part that returns to the wall across the end of the mounting board).
